About Perez Landscaping

We design gardens that belong to the land they grow in.

Perez Landscaping & Tree Services is an ecological design-build-care practice based in Woodville, Virginia. We work with native plants, food-producing species, and the people who live alongside them.

How we got here

Perez Landscaping grew out of a simple observation: the most beautiful properties in Rappahannock County were the ones that looked like they belonged. Not the manicured show lawns — the places where native shrubs edged a stone wall, where a pawpaw grew beside a creek, where goldfinches landed on rudbeckia in August.

We started designing gardens that work that way on purpose — native species chosen for this specific geology, food-producing trees layered into the canopy, meadows replacing turf where mowing never made sense.

Our plant material comes from Hill House Farm & Nursery, right here in Woodville. Janet Davis grows natives from local-ecotype seed, so every plant is adapted before it reaches the ground. That partnership means our designs establish faster and last longer.

Trees are beautiful and precious, but sometimes they grow in dangerous places, get damaged, or fall ill. That is why we tend the trees that already shape your land — pruning, removals, storm response, and health care — with the same place-loyal ethic that guides our planting work. We climb instead of bringing a bucket truck onto the lawn, and we are fully insured.

What Drives Us

Our principles

Place-loyal

Every species we plant evolved within driving distance. We design for this soil, this water, this light.

Edible and ecological

Food forests, native gardens, and meadows that feed people and ecosystems at the same time.

Grown by a neighbor

Our plants come from Hill House Farm & Nursery in Woodville — nursery-grown from seed, never wild-collected.

Long-term relationship

We design, install, and tend. Gardens need ongoing care — we stay with the work season after season.

Our Partnership

Hill House Farm & Nursery

Every native plant we install is grown by Janet Davis at Hill House, a few miles from our office. Her nursery specializes in local-ecotype Piedmont natives — propagated from seed or division, never dug from the wild. This means our gardens are genetically suited to the soil and climate where they are planted.
